Locally designed solar vehicles race for top spots

Bhopal: Solar vehicles designed by budding engineers, contesting in electric-solar vehicle racing championship, will be put on display at international meet.

Sources said 3 vehicles have been short-listed for display during Global Exhibition on Services (GES) 2016 exhibition, which is scheduled to be organised at Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, from April 21. Final decision will be taken after grand finale.

In all, 36 vehicles were selected on Monday to contest in final round scheduled for Tuesday at RPM Go Kart track.

The government of India, ministry of commerce and industry in association with Services Export Promotion Council (SEPC) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) will organise the second edition of three-day GES from April 21 at India Expo Centre and Mart, Greater Noida.

The objective is to provide a platform to all participants, delegates, business visitors and other key decision makers from services industry and other related industry to interact with and explore new business avenues.

In second GES, spotlight will be on services sector of the world economy and will serve as a forward-looking impulse for the services industry. On the penultimate day of the competition, contesting cars were put to cross pad and solar panel drive rounds to judge braking, steering, stability, cornering and overall handling besides their capability to run only on solar panels.
